A group of past exchange students who form a group called Rotex, to support future incoming and outgoing exchange students.
Rotex is a group that was formed in 2020 by a past exchange student named Rhianna. When Rotex first started we only had around 12 people join and it is currently slowly expanding with more and more past exchange students joining.
The group aims to support future exchange students, both inbound and outbound, through social events, mentoring, and a buddy system.
Western Australia has not had a Rotex group for many years so being recognised as an official group is a significant achievement for us.
Briefing and Debriefing
Rotex is involved throughout the transition of RYE
Rotex is involved throughout the different stages of Rotary Youth Exchange from the first initial briefing all the way to the debriefing after the students return.
The first contact new exchange students have with Rotex occurs in July when the outbound exchange students have their initial briefing and the inbound exchange students arrive.
Rotex is involved with mentoring both the inbounds and the outbound students on what to expect during their year abroad and offers this support throughout their exchange and after returning to their home countries.
